Save / Load - Data persistence


jagRPG [ SNES-era, turn-based, classic jRPG ]

Version: pre-alpha 0.010 (5/13/2024): 

  • SAVE/LOAD system added. Can now save on up to 3 profiles ( not available on webplayer -- download .exe if you want to test the save/load).
  • Order menu added, swap your heroes around as you please!
  • Roaming NPC/Enemy with enemy aggro
  • Battle system improvements


Big update and overhaul on all existing code. Finally figured out how to implement a proper save/load system for storing data between play sessions. Set it up with a familiar 3-profile save menu system. Also spent time developing NPC AI and roaming behavior. Extended these scripts onto the enemy encounters and expanded them to contain aggro/chase behaviors so the player will now be engaged if walking too close to danger. 

UP NEXT:  More work into dialog system and NPC branching dialog. 

- It seems all major systems are almost in place for this game engine so development on the first few actual world zones might be happening soon. Currently have [ Battle system] [ Main menu] [ Save / Load ] [ NPC ] [ Inventory ] [ Spells ] set up.
